IS THE SCHOOL REGISTRERED AND RECOGNIZED WITH THE GOVERNMENT?
The school has been registered at the end of 2014. The Headmaster Sukman Subba made several efforts to get the school also recognized but till date he has not achieved success. With the diminishing number of students Sukman feels there is no need of trying for recognition any more.

WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE TOWARD THE SCHOOL?
This school is in the state Government’s list of schools in and around Kurseong Subdivision. The Gorkha Territorial Association (body working under the State Govt.) had visited this school several times over the years and has encouraged our teachers. Though they had promised to donate funds for the development of the school but never gave any till date.

HOW FAR IS IT TO THE NEAREST GOVERNMENT SCHOOL?
The nearest Govt. High school is 5 km away through the shortest route from Sivatar School. Most of the students in Sivatar village are studying in Spring Dale, an English Medium school close to the main road. The children coming from poor family background are the ones who have stayed back in Sivatar Mission School.

CAN THE CHILDREN BE ADMITTED TO A GOVERNMENT SCHOOL AFTER CLASS 4?
Yes, the students of this school get a direct entry to the Govt. School.

All the students carry tiffin with them.

DO CHILDREN GET HOME WORK?
The students are given light home work from the school. Most of the studies are done at school.

WHO HELPS THE CHILDREN WITH THE HOMEWORK?
Since the parents are not so literate in this area they are not able to help their children much in doing homework. Keeping this in mind the teachers explain to the children about the homework in the school.

WHAT MATERIAL IS AVAILABLE FOR THE TEACHING?
This year there was a contribution of around INR 3 500/- from the guardians towards books and stationery. The school has charts of alphabets, animals, objects, numbers fixed on the on the walls of classes as teaching material.  Computer is also used for teaching the students.  From September 2016 the computer monitor has gone out of order and cannot be used to teach the little ones.  The older students were taken to Darjeeling for excursion this year. They visited the zoo and other places and enjoyed thoroughly.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION OF THE PARENTS:
This place is quiet remote and the parents are from a low income group, majority are Tea Garden labourers in Sivatar Tea Estate. They live in mud or wooden houses with tin roofs. Some people of this area have got work as labourers helping in building roads.

WHAT FUTURE LIES AHEAD FOR THE SCHOOL?
The school had 13 children this year. In 2017 the number is expected to go down to 10 children. Rumors spread in 2015 by the ex-teacher Asit Rai, about closing down of Sivatar Mission School was so strong that it really affected the admission of this school and has virtually ended the life of this school. Fresh admission is no more taking place. Year 2017 is expected to be the last academic year of this school.
