The new academic session for 2021 started on the 24th of February with 16 children. To make it easier for the children, the books and exercise copies were distributed before the session started. Children came along with their parents to collect them. Till the 7th of May 2021 the school continued normally. Thereafter a circular was issued by the Government to close all the educational institutions and the village council also requested the headmaster of the school to close down the school.
Since the students are from extremely poor background and don’t have any smart phones in their family, no online classes were possible.

The teachers then started visiting the students at their houses one to two times a week on rotational basis giving them lessons. The guardians reverted back to the school with the home works that were given to the students. From October 19th, 2021, the school reopened. The school will function till December 11th, 2021 after which the academic year will end and the students will have their winter vacation. The school didn’t conduct half yearly exams this year but will have final exams from the beginning of December. It has been decided that all the students will be promoted this year.

We would like to thank CHILD Sweden for helping the students not only with education but also for conducting relief program by distributing ration packets containing rice, wheat, pulses, soyabean, oil, spices, salt, soap and masks. Since the government has been very irregular in providing rice and wheat of poor quality, this relief programme helped the children and their families much.

Many here in Nombung have become jobless and therefore were not able to contribute for their child` stationaries. Now that the pandemic situation is slowly improving many parents are trying for jobs in far off locations.

As every year this year too, both teachers and the guardians would like to convey their gratefulness to the donors for their financial aid to educate the poor and needy children of Nombung.

The teachers and the students would like to wish the donors a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New year. Hope we will be able to soon live in a covid free world.
